SC4WD employs the services of several types of vehicles to best cater for our tours and customers. When we purchase a vehicle we have 4 important standards that must be meet.
- Must be forward facing Seats – (Lots of Legroom)
- Must be air-conditioned and comfortable in all weather, hot or cold
- Must have the best in relation to standards for 4wding and getting off the beaten track in safety
- Good viewing positions in all seats to see the stunning scenery and wildlife that this area offers
All our vehicles adhere to these standards and the addition of our new Mercedes is the benchmark of what you will see in the 4wding industry as technologies evolve from the days of levers to the electronic world of safety and comfort.
Our smaller vehicles are used for small groups, private tours or on days when there is just a few of us. All forward facing seats and capable of tackling the hardest 4wd tracks in Australia. If booking a private tour you can really see what these vehicles can do.
Land Rover Defender 2012
Our newest addition to the fleet used for small groups, private tours or on days when there is just a few of us. The reputation for this vehicle is self exlanatory. Besides the upgrade of technology with emission control and all the other safety required for Australian and Euro Standards this is one of or if not the toughest 4wd in the world, Even James Bond has one!!
The most modern 4wd, not just for us but in Australia, is our 4WD Mercedes. This vehicle is not only of the highest standard in safety but also in luxury. This Merc tackles the same tracks as our other vehicles. The Mercedes is one of the most advanced in technology not just in its class but for most buses on the road in Australia. This technology works both on and off road. For those that are interested here is the technical stuff: Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Acceleration Skid Control (ASR), Anti-Lock Brake Control Module (ABS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD).
All our vehicles are fitted with Lightforce Lights. We have used these lights over many years personally and now use on the Southern Cross fleet as they not only give exceptional light but are up for the challenge when it comes to 4wding. The lights on our Nissan Patrol have been bashed through the Aussie bush for over 4 years and are still performing. (Even at the local takeaway drive through gantry!)
Southern Cross is sponsored by Lightforce Lighting. Check out our Elite profile and the lights. http://www.lightforce.com/lightforce-elite/10
